Hike with Yuh XIII

Walk with me!

A great way to meet with friends and respect the safety protocol of social distancing [6’] and wearing masks!

I would like to challenge my fellow club members to explore all the beautiful Lake County Forest Preserves – one new preserve every week with the option of 30 or 60 minutes hikes. 

Each hike will start on Thursday mornings at 10 am. Approx trail lengths are added to each hike.

Sign up for length and day of hike by emailing msyuh@aol.com by Monday at noon the week of the hike.

You will be paired with a buddy to walk in pairs and not as a group.  We are asking everyone to keep social distancing, bring their own water bottles or walking sticks and it is a must to wear a mask.

If you complete 7 of the hikes marked with * you can log your hikes with the 2020 Hike Lake County, and receive a commemorative zipper pull, or a shield for your walking stick or a commemorative dog tag for your 4-legged family member.

December 10^th Lakewood Forest Preserve, Wauconda

We will meet at the LakeWood Winter sports Area 27261 N Fairfield Rd | Wauconda, IL 60084

Short Hike: 1.62 miles. Will start for 0.3 miles along the Lakewood Winter sport segments trail, turn right onto the Millenium trail for 0.49 miles and back on the Lakewood Forest Preserve Trail for 0.53 miles.

Long Hike: 2.6 miles Will start for 0.3 miles along the Lakewood Winter sport segments trail, turn right onto the Millenium trail for 0.49 miles and back cut west on the Millenium winter sports loop up to buttom of Davis Lake for another .49 miles and back again, then head west-north on the Lakewood Forest Preserve Trail for 0.53 miles and back on the start of the trail.

If it snows this is a great trail for snow shoes

Please sign up by the Monday at noon before the hike by emailing msyuh@aol.com. Include your personal preferences for slow walks, power walking etc so we can pair you with a buddy that fits your needs.  I will email maps and buddies on the Wednesday before each hike. Those participating will be provided with information on how to log your hikes for the prices.
